I Demand To Be Treated As an Equal by Julianna Zelt

I demand to be treated as an equal,
Why is that so much to ask?

I demand to be treated with respect,
Why is it that I must earn it?

I demand to make my own decisions,
Why must I get approval?

I demand to wear whatever I please,
How come you can pass judgment?

I demand to be in control of my body,
How come you feel you can comment?

I demand to own what I want,
How come you can take it away?

I demand to say what I want,
How come you think you can silence me?

I demand to learn how, where and when I want,
Why is it you take offence?

I expected to govern my own life,
What made you think this wasn’t okay?

How come you got to claim these rights?
I demand justice for your actions today.
