The Wild Goose Chase by Louise Carson

There must be a reason
the one wild goose
flies against the southbound vee,
then turns and calls,
perhaps for one who’s lost.

A reason why,
failing to hear the hoped for honk,
and calling still it turns again
to the north.

Peace be upon it. I wish it well.
